Der Land Cruiser ist für die Touren, die den ausgetretenen Pfad verlassen: Kaokoland, das Marienfluss-Tal, der Van-Zyl's-Pass, die Sandpisten im Khaudum, der ferne Nordosten — lange, abgelegene Routen mit vier Erwachsenen, vollem Wasser- und Kraftstoffvorrat und mehreren Tagen zwischen zwei Tankstopps. Er trägt mehr Gewicht als der Hilux und ist das Fahrzeug, mit dem unsere eigenen Guides in dieses Gebiet fahren. Er hat ein Schaltgetriebe, ist lauter, verbraucht mehr und kostet pro Tag am meisten. Für Sossusvlei, Swakopmund und Etosha ist er mehr Fahrzeug, als die Route braucht.
