The 90-minute briefing at delivery is the most important hour of your trip. Here's what to confirm.

    Walk-around

Photo every existing scratch, dent, chip and tyre scuff with your phone. Date-stamped photos protect you on return. Open every door, every compartment, the canopy.

    Mechanical demo

Have the agent show you: 4x4 high engagement, low range engagement, diff-lock (if fitted), tyre-pressure deflation for sand. Practise once each in the yard.

    Spare wheels and tools

Two full-size spares (not space-savers). Bottle jack + winding bar. Wheel spanner that fits. Two tyre repair plugs and a compressor. Check all are present.

    Camping kit

If camping-equipped: tent unzipped and refolded once with you. Stove tested. Fridge powered and reading temperature. Every plate, cup, pot counted out.

    Paperwork

Insurance policy (full cover, single excess). Rental contract (additional drivers listed). 24/7 emergency number stored in your phone. Cross-border letter if going into Botswana.
