Namibia's fuel network is excellent on tar but thin on the gravel C-roads. Run dry on the D3707 on a Sunday and your trip is over for a day.
The one rule
Never pass a fuel station with less than half a tank. It's that simple. In a Hilux that's roughly 400km of range, and the longest fuel gaps on the classic loop are under 350km.
Reliable fuel stops
Windhoek (everywhere), Rehoboth, Solitaire, Sesriem (limited hours), Walvis Bay, Swakopmund, Henties Bay, Uis, Khorixas, Kamanjab, Outjo, Okaukuejo (inside Etosha, limited hours), Namutoni, Tsumeb, Otjiwarongo.
Sundays and remote stops
Smaller stations close on Sundays or run out of diesel by Sunday afternoon. Plan refuels for Saturday where possible. Carry NAD cash — card machines fail in remote stations.
