Namibia consistently ranks among the safest sub-Saharan destinations for solo female travellers. Low crime, very low harassment culture, English widely spoken, lodge networks excellent.
What to do anyway
Avoid Windhoek city centre after dark — common-sense urban precautions. Don't display jewellery or large amounts of cash. Stick to formal taxis (Bolt) in cities. Lodges are universally safe.
On the road
Same rules as any solo self-drive: daily check-ins with someone at home, never drive after dusk, MTC SIM with data. Stop at fuel stations rather than verges if you need a break.
The community
Namibia has a small but real solo-female travel network — many lodges connect solo guests at dinner if asked. Speak to reception on arrival.
