Etosha gates close at sunset and you can't drive inside the park at night. The only legal way to be in the park after dark is a guided night drive run by NWR from Okaukuejo, Halali or Namutoni.
What you see
Honey badgers, aardwolf, genets, owls, bat-eared foxes — the small nocturnal cast you'll never glimpse on a day game drive. Lion and rhino activity peaks after midnight; you may catch them moving between waterholes.
Honest expectations
It's a 2-hour drive with a spotlight, not a documentary shoot. Some nights are quiet. Cold in winter — bring a fleece even in October.
Worth it for
First-timers in Etosha (you'll see species impossible to spot in daylight). Photographers can skip — light is hard. Around NAD 750 pp.
