Die meisten Tage sind trocken und heiß. Was man hier Regenzeit nennt, sind ein paar spektakuläre Nachmittagsgewitter, die innerhalb von zwei Stunden aufziehen, sich entladen und wieder auflösen — worüber es sich lohnt zu lesen, bevor Sie sich entscheiden.
Die andere Hälfte betrifft die Straßen. Sesriem, Deadvlei und die Etosha-Wasserlöcher sind im Juli voll und im Januar ruhig, und Sie begegnen auf der Schotterstraße deutlich weniger Fahrzeugen. Auch die Lodge-Verfügbarkeit und die Preise werden entspannter.
