If weather, fatigue or a flat tyre changes your plan — we re-book lodges on the fly via WhatsApp.

    Choosing a self-drive length

Most first-time visitors underestimate Namibia's scale. The country is twice the size of Germany with two million people — driving times are real. A 7-day trip can cover Sossusvlei, Swakopmund and Etosha but requires early starts. 10 days is the sweet spot to add Damaraland without rushing. 14 days lets you add the south (Kalahari, Fish River Canyon, Lüderitz). 18–21 days opens up Kaokoland or the Caprivi for true wilderness.

    Lodges, camping or mixed

Lodges are easy: arrive at sunset, hot shower, dinner served, repeat. Camping with a rooftop tent is the most popular option — half the cost, twice the freedom, and Namibian campsites are excellent. Mixed (camping in the parks, lodges in town) is what most repeat visitors choose. Tell us your style and we'll build accordingly.

Every quote is customised. The day-counts are starting points — we adjust regions, lodges and activities to your dates, group size and budget.

For peak season (June–October) book 4–6 months ahead, especially if you want NWR resorts inside Etosha or Sossusvlei. Green season (Nov–April) is much more flexible.

Absolutely — most of our family trips are 10–14 days with shorter driving days, lodges with pools, and child-friendly activities like kayaking with seals or Sandwich Harbour 4x4.

Tell us and we'll build in rest days. Two or three nights at the same lodge is often the highlight of the trip.

We aim for 200–350 km per travel day at gravel-road speeds of 70–80 km/h (3–5 hours behind the wheel). We avoid back-to-back 400 km+ days — fatigue causes most gravel-road accidents.

Around 60% gravel (well-graded B and C roads), 40% tarred. The B1 spine and the routes to Swakopmund and Etosha's main gate are tarred. Every itinerary includes a road-type breakdown by day.

Highly recommended. Sossusvlei's last 5 km is deep sand, NWR rooftop-tent campsites need clearance, and gravel-road comfort is much better in a 4x4. We bundle the vehicle into the itinerary.

Yes — most Namibian campsites are fenced, have private ablutions, power and braai facilities. A rooftop tent is set up in 30 seconds. Solo camping on the classic loop is common and safe.

Day-by-day route, 4x4 rental, lodges or campsites, pre-bookable activities, park entry fees, conservancy fees and 24/7 WhatsApp support. Flights and travel insurance are not included.

We add them to the quote where possible. From 1 April 2026 Etosha and Namib-Naukluft are premium parks: NAD 280 per international adult per day, plus a vehicle fee of about NAD 60/day. Children under 8 are free. Community conservancies in Damaraland and Kaokoland charge an additional NAD 80–150/day per adult.

Yes — common add-ons. We prepare cross-border letters for the 4x4, book the onward stays (Chobe, Livingstone) and coordinate one-way flights or transfers if needed.

Message WhatsApp — we re-route on the fly, shift lodges, extend rest nights or arrange roadside support. Our Windhoek desk operates on local time so messages get answered as you drive.

Yes — comprehensive travel insurance with medical evacuation cover is mandatory. The 4x4 has its own waiver and optional zero-excess top-up; personal insurance covers flights, baggage, illness and cancellation.

Deposit on confirmation, balance 6–8 weeks before arrival, one combined invoice for the entire trip. No reconciling separate supplier payments.

A Welcome Pack with vouchers, route notes and a packing list, then a final itinerary, fuel-stop map and a WhatsApp group invite for live support two weeks before departure.

Most of Namibia is malaria-free. The Caprivi (Zambezi), Kavango and northern Etosha carry low risk Nov–April — speak to a travel clinic. No mandatory vaccinations for direct entry from Europe; check yellow fever rules if transiting through endemic countries.
