When Things Go Wrong on a Namibia Self-Drive

Flat tyre, lost key, missed turn, lodge cancellation — the playbook our clients actually use on the road.

    Flat tyre

Stop on flat ground if possible. Two spares come fitted (full size). Wheel brace + jack are under the rear seat. If it's the second flat, phone the rental desk before changing — we send a backup.

    Lost key

Phone the rental desk. We dispatch a spare to the nearest lodge or fuel station — usually within 24 hours. Don't try a workshop locally; rental vehicles need original transponders.

    Missed your lodge turn

Don't double back across a fast gravel road. Carry on to the next safe turning area and U-turn there. Many lodge signs are small — overshoot by 1–2km is normal.

    Lodge problem on arrival

Phone our 24/7 line, not the lodge. We hold the booking and resolve it directly — much faster than arguing at reception after a long drive.
