Sossusvlei sunrise, Deadvlei first light, Damaraland golden hour, Etosha waterholes — sequenced for the best light all trip.

    Order matters

Run the route counter-clockwise: Sossusvlei first while you're fresh for 04:30 starts, then Swakopmund (recovery), then Damaraland golden hour, finishing at Etosha where afternoon sit-at-waterhole works well after long days.

    Pre-book the inside-park lodges

Stay inside Sesriem (NWR Sesriem or Sossus Dune) — gate opens 1 hour earlier for guests inside. That's the only way to be at Deadvlei before sunrise.

    Damaraland timing

Arrive at Mowani or Camp Kipwe by 16:00. The boulder kopjes glow at 17:30. Skip the lodge sundowner the first night and shoot instead.

    Etosha for photographers

Skip night drives (light is hard). Stay 3 nights minimum at Okaukuejo or Halali, sit at the floodlit waterhole 18:00–22:00 with a fast lens. Two of the best wildlife photo opportunities in Africa happen there.
