    What to bring, what to leave at home, and the small items every first-timer forgets.

    Clothing (layers)

    3–4 quick-dry t-shirts, 1 long-sleeve, 2 trousers (1 zip-off), 1 shorts, 1 warm fleece, 1 windproof jacket, closed walking shoes, sandals, wide-brim hat, buff/scarf for dust. Winter (June–August) add thermals and gloves.

    Tech

    Power bank, Type D/M/N plug adapter, camera with 2+ batteries, 64GB+ memory card, head torch, phone with offline maps downloaded.

    Health & sun

    SPF 50, lip balm, after-sun, basic first-aid kit, prescription meds for the full trip, hand sanitiser.

    Documents

    Passport, driving licence (English or IDP), printed rental voucher, printed lodge confirmations, travel insurance card, two passport copies stored separately.

    Leave at home

    Hard-shell suitcases (use soft duffel — fits 4x4 storage). Formal clothes. Heavy camping gear (rent locally). Drone (Namibia has strict permits).
