The basics
Namibia drives on the LEFT. Steering wheel on the right. Roundabouts go clockwise. Overtaking lane is the right lane. The trickiest bit is the first 24 hours — after that it's second nature.
Common mistakes
Turning into the wrong lane after a stop in town (no traffic to follow). Hitting the windscreen wipers when reaching for the indicator (they're swapped). Forgetting which side to look first at junctions (look RIGHT first).
Licences
Your home licence is valid for 90 days if in English. Non-English licences need an International Driving Permit.
Speed limits
120 km/h tar, 80 km/h gravel, 60 km/h in towns. Speed cameras on the B1 between Windhoek and Otjiwarongo — fines are enforced.
