Travelling to Namibia from the UK — The Practical Brief

Flights, connections, jetlag, time zone, and the small details that smooth a 14-hour journey.

    Flights

No direct UK flights. Two reliable routes: Lufthansa via Frankfurt (the historic Windhoek route) or Qatar via Doha. Both around 14–15 hours total. SAA via Johannesburg also works but adds time and a fragile connection.

    Time zone

Namibia is GMT+2 year-round (no DST). One hour ahead of UK winter, same as UK summer. Jetlag minimal — most clients are functional from day 1.

    Arrival timing

The Frankfurt flight lands Windhoek mid-morning. Easy day 1: airport transfer, lodge by lunch, gentle afternoon. The Doha flight lands mid-afternoon — straight to your Windhoek hotel for an early dinner.

    What to do at Frankfurt/Doha

Both have shower facilities airside. Use them on the return leg — landing in London after a long-haul shower is the only civilised way to do it.
